Born to Love Jasper Lake Book 1 Audible Audio Edition Leah Atwood Jennifer Groberg Books Reviews

  • Jessa Graff loves her town of Jasper Lake and her job at the chamber of commerce. What she didn’t like is all the upheaval and drama her family had gone though in the last year. When she meets Landon Reeves, she’s ready for a diversion and some happiness.

Landon has his own family problems. His absent parents have come back, expecting forgiveness for years of neglect, and Landon refuses to listen to their lies. He’s always told himself he would never marry because of their genes within him. But when he meets Jessa, he’s so drawn to her he overlooks his misgivings. Can two hurting people help each other or will they just create more family drama?

This novel had a few mistakes, like “they’re” for “their,” “site” for “sight,” and “Lacy” for “Tanya,” but it’s an enjoyable story. There’re not a lot of problems for the couple, except those coming from their respective families, but that was rather refreshing since I’ve been reading some that are so filled with anguish they’re depressing or hard to read. The ending was especially good, something I’ve found common with this author.
  • Jessa has her dream job, running the Chamber of Commerce in her beautiful Adirondack hometown of Jasper Lake, NY. She isn't looking for a relationship after her last one ended disastrously. Her job and once perfect family are her life. Things change when Landon, a long haul truck driver is detoured by work on the highway into th quaint town. Something draws him to discover the attraction of the area that seems to bustle with vacationers. He heads to the Chamber to learn more about the town, only to meet Jessa, the director. Coming from a far less than perfect family, he's not interested in getting to know the lovely young woman, but there is attraction he can't deny. After all, he's only here because of a detour. He lives in Pennsylvania, and is just passing through. Could it be a rerouting of more than his travel? Maybe it will be the thing that might soften his untrusting heart.
A great story with great characters, you'll want to plan your next vacation with the lovely people of Jasper Lake, and take one of Ms. Atwood's books to curl up with along the Lake!
  • This is the love story of Jessa & Landon. I liked both characters & loved the relationship Landon had with his grandmother who raised him because his parents dropped him & his siblings off to be raised by his grandmother. But this causes him to have problems forgiving his parents. My heart ached for him but forgiveness was the only thing that could heal his heart. I know forgiveness is a process & it is mainly for the forgiver but it can also heal the one forgiven. The author handled it all beautifully. Jessa's family also has heartaches that need healing. It shows how christians fall but GOD still uses His grace. I am sure there will be more about that in the next book which I am looking forward to.
  • I liked the entire story. Wouldn’t change anything. I love a good Christian love story. I don’t believe God condones the explicit language and sex that seems to be everywhere these days. Thanks for a clean story full of love, forgiveness and unwavering hope in God’s goodness.
  • Although this is a sweet love story, the romance was easy with no conflict. The conflict and character growth was in family relationships, leading to forgiveness and redemption. I appreciated that this works well as a standalone even though it is part of a series. And I liked having a truck driver for a hero--I get tired of sports heroes, movie stars, famous singers, billionaire bosses as the heroes.
  • Author Leah Atwood tells another story filled with warmth. Both Landon's and Jesse's family had dramatic issues they were working through. Meeting each other made them realize it was important to work on the issues that could ruin their chances at happiness. They realized with God's help and through prayer, forgiveness would come.
  • This series is one I'll follow for sure. Lovely small town with an awesome boarding house which showcases the characters and family dynamics of the characters. Faith and forgiveness are strong themes here as well.
  • He’s a truck driver and she’s the town information manager. They meet and like each other but so much in each ones past is effecting their lives. Can they work through the challenges together to be the one for each other?
