- This book is very suitable for beginner investors and most of the stuff in here I already knew having been in the investing game for a while now. That being said, I found some golden nuggets of information here and there. I also found the coverage on REITs to be intriguing. It’s interesting to know that as far as taxes go, REIT dividends are taxed as ordinary income and the shareholder has to pay at their highest marginal tax rate but rental income is taxed as personal income, although you can deduct the expenses related to refurbishing it in preparation for being rented out, as well as maintenance costs. The coverage of the tax aspect of real estate investment was a nice touch. Love it

I’ve always wanted to know about reward credit cards and real estate and to find a book that combines both is really nice. The analysis of the real estate business opportunities were done in a simple, step by step manner a beginner investor can digest e.g. the author rightly observed that REITs are vulnerable to market downturns. If there is an economic slowdown, for instance, occupancy rates for retail properties may decline, affecting the income they generate. Thus, the dividends you receive from your shares will also fall - this will help you with regards to timing your investments
